WWE Latest News & Updates: John Cena Longer Hiatus Confirmed, Rusev Shoulder Injury and More!

Fresh off from hosting the 2017 Kids' Choice Awards, John Cena headlines today's latest WWE news and updates. Other news includes an injury to the "Handsome" Rusev, Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens for the first time ever and more.

John Cena Longer Hiatus Confirmed

The 16-time WWE world champion is expected to take some time off after WrestleMania 33. He is set to film "The Pact" sometime in April but a new movie role will make sure that John Cena is going to have an even longer hiatus.

According to Deadline.com, Cena is set to reprise his role as Roger in "Daddy's Home 2" starring alongside Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson. Unlike in the first film, the WWE superstar is going to have a more prominent role. Filming will reportedly get underway later this year in Boston.

Rusev Suffering From Shoulder Injury

"The Bulgarian Brute" is set to undergo shoulder surgery and he is going to take some time off to recover, per Wrestle Zone. Rusev is currently not involved in any storylines after his brief partnership with Jinder Mahal ended at Fastlane.

The former United States champion recently lost to the Big Show at Fastlane wherein he was hit with the chokeslam three times. The move might be a way to write Rusev off of WWE television as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens

The fans are dreaming about Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens in a match in the future but it already happened at a live show on Sunday. For the first time ever, "The Beast" went one-on-one with "The Prizefighter" at Madison Square Garden.

However, the outcome of the match was unexpected as Lesnar dominated Owens in a three-minute match, per Wrestling Inc. Lesnar brought KO to Suplex City before finishing him off with an F5 for the victory.

Asuka main roster debut

According to Cageside Seats, reigning NXT women's champion Asuka teased her main roster debut on social media by challenging SmackDown women's champion, Alexa Bliss. There is still no word if Asuka is going to drop her title on WrestleMania 33 weekend at NXT TakeOver but she is expected to make her main roster debut sometime this year.
