Spanish footballing giant Barcelona has been beaten by the Deportivo La Coruna,which is currently standing at the 15th spot in La Liga table.Barcelona now trailing Real Madrid in La Liga table due to the defeat. The defeat came after the unbelievable comeback against French side PSG in Champions League four days before the match.
Barcelona has started the match comfortably and has dominated the first half but team failed to stop Deportivo to score goal in the first half. La Coruna's Joselu gave homeside a lead in the 40th minute.
As expected, Barcelona started the second half aggressively and soon scored the goal in 46th minute with the help of Luis Suarez's clinical finish. But then it got tougher for Catalan side to take lead in the match. Deportivo started playing attacking games and becomes more threating in the Barcelona's penalty area.
According to TheGuardian, La Coruna's Alex Bergantinos headed a winner in the 74th minute. Barca tried to score the equaliser but failed to do so. Notably, Barcelona was playing without their key players including Neymar. The team seemed missing him since the kick-off.
Barcelona's defeat was good news for Real Madrid. Real had the chance to regain the La Liga's top spot again by beating Real Betis and the team earned the victory later. Los Blancos beat the spirited Betis with 2-1 in close encounter, reports Independent. Now Real Madrid is sitting top of the La Liga table with 2 points lead and the game in hand.
What else? Barcelona is heavily criticised by the game pundits and the fans for the losing the match against much weaker side. Many believe the team's hangover after the win over PSG in Champions League caused the defeat. Now Barcelona has to play good games to remain in the La Liga's title challenge.
