"Ghost Recon Wildlands" is a smash hit in UK gaming chart, punching a record of attracting 6.78 million players after it was released one week ago. It followed after the game made a record-breaking beta period on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in February. The two streaks proved the success of the launch of this latest Tom Clancy open world game in Ubisoft record.
But in terms of a quarter record, "Ghost Recon Wildlands" placed second to The Division. The latter still holds the record for being the biggest ever release among Tom Clancy games. GRW though has to prove yet in world's players as lately there has been a lot of new exciting games such as those on Nintendo Switch console launched since January and scheduled for launching until the end of 2017.
Nouredine Abboud, senior producer of Ghost Recon Wildlands, was in high spirit to pay tribute to the gaming community for the "extra motivation (that they) needed to navigate through the different phases of game development." He said it took them five years of hard work "to deliver the best game possible".
On Metacritic reviews, Ghost Recon Wildlands has a recent 76 rating. Also placing in Top 10 of UK gaming chart after GRW are: 2. Horizon Zero Dawn, 3. Lego Worlds, 4. Zelda: Breath of the Wild, 5. GTA5,6. Nier Automata, 7. FIFA 17, 8. Rocket League, 9. 1-2 Switch, and 10. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Ghost Recon Wildlands is about brutal wars fought from within the inner workings of the Santa Blanca drug cartel. James Wright of Daily Star in UK made a critical review on the game and commented on Tuesday that it is a "mish-mash mixtape showcasing the best of Ubisoft's various open-world hits." He added that the game developed managed to successfully repackage the drone toll in Watch Dogs, gunplay and weapons customization in The Division, the general open world in many Assassin's Creed games "into an extensive game that feels fresh and welcome in today's crowded shooter market."
