Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor Fight ‘No Target Date Whatsoever’ According To UFC’s Dana White

Floyd Mayweather made a lot of noise over the weekend after announcing that he’s officially out of retirement to fight UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. But as has been the trend with the back-and-forth between the undefeated fighter and the UFC, when one camp says that the fight is close, the other will soon dispel it. And UFC president Dana White played the role of buzz kill once again by saying that the fight is “nowhere near being done.”

Following reports saying that the T-Mobile Arena had reserved June 10 for the super fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, TMZ Sports got hold of Dana White, who quickly denied that the date has been set for the massive clash between the two megastars. “There is no target date whatsoever,” White said, once again denying speculation.

Veteran fight pundit Kevin Iole likewise remained skeptical of the potential blockbuster fight, responding to a random tweet asking about the rumor by saying, he heard “BS” on the rumor from everyone he has spoken with. Early this year, Dana White offered Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor $25 million each for the fight – an offer that the undefeated boxer expectedly laughed off.

As reported by MMA Junkie, during a Saturday stop in England as part of a publicity tour, Floyd Mayweather told Conor McGregor that he doesn’t want to hear any more excuses about the money, demanding that the Irishman “sign the paper with the UFC” so they can fight in June. McGregor has been uncharacteristically mum so far on Mayweather’s pronouncements, keeping silent on both the possibility of his first professional boxing match and his future in the UFC. Floyd Mayweather has not fought since beating Andre Berto in 2015, while Conor McGregor has also been inactive since winning the UFC lightweight title at UFC 205 in November.
