Jeremy Lin missed the Brooklyn Nets' game on Tuesday night at the Barclays Center against the Detroit Pistons because of a right ankle sprain. Lin could play the Nets' next game on Thursday as he was listed probable for the matchup against the visiting Phoenix Suns.
The 28-year-old point guard suffered the injury last Sunday in Brooklyn during a game against the Dallas Mavericks. He sprained his right ankle after landing on Mavs guard J.J. Barea's foot around the five-minute mark of the first quarter.
The Nets ended up losing to the Mavericks 111-104 without Jeremy Lin, who was very disappointed about his injury. He told Ryan Lazo of the New York Post that injuries are the story of his season and he does not like their timing.
"It's the story of my season. Every time we're about to hit our stride, get into a rhythm or we start to figure things out, something's happened," Lin said.
Jeremy Lin is currently averaging 13.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 25 games this season. He missed a total of 44 games before the All-Star break due to a strained right hamstring. He returned to the lineup after the All-Star break and he helped the Nets improve in a lot of ways.
The Nets are expected to have the worst record in the NBA at the end of the season but they are looking to finish strong. As seen on the Nets' game versus the Pistons on Tuesday, they gained momentum from playing well with Jeremy Lin at the point guard.
The confidence from that regard helped the Nets beat the Pistons, 98-96, without Jeremy Lin. For their next game against Phoenix, Lin is listed as probable. According to Bryan Fonseca of Nets Daily, Lin could be inserted into the starting lineup depending on his status during the team's morning shootaround, per CBS Sports.
