Lamar Odom admits he recently fell off the wagon and was drunk in the video that surfaced this week of him rapping about cheating on reality TV wife Khloe Kardashian, but insists he hadn't taken any drugs.
According to Hollywoodlife.com, Odom is now leery of facing his spouse of four years and is said to be attempting to do damage control from afar by claiming it is the last time he drank and he is back to being completely sober. The website adds Odom, who was dogged by allegations of harcore drug abuse and chronic infidelity this summer, has yet to directly apologize to his wife.
With several media outlets recently reporting the couple was in counseling and attempting to patch up their relationship, HollywoodLife says Kardashian views the video as "a slap in face."
A source also later told the website "he knows there's nothing he could say that would make her feel better. She's out promoting her business anyway and he thinks the best thing for him to do is just not mention it. He doesn't want to ruin her day."
HollywoodLife also reports Odom is fearful of what his relapse may have done to his chances of making his NBA return anytime soon. Before the video surfaced, Odom was rumored to be in talks with the L.A. Clippers, with several media outlets reporting he and coach Doc Rivers met for more than two hours earlier this month.
But now all those gains may be in jeopardy as the source told HollywoodLife "the video goes against everything he told Coach Rivers and the Clippers of how he was improving. He may have ruined his chances of signing with the team."
In the video, first obtained by TMZ, an incoherent and shirtless Odom also raps about drugs and making money off his fragrance "Unbreakable," as well as how he smokes drugs to make "the pain go away."
