Flying Hotdog Of Phillie Phanatic Hit Fan Between The Eyes

A Philadelphia Phillies fan suffered a small hematoma in her eye and a bruised face after a hotdog cannon hit her on Monday, June 18.

The fan was identified as Kathy McVay of Plymouth Meeting, PA. Prior to being hit, McVay was suffering from a shoulder injury that needs immediate surgery.

The Phillie Phanatic has been firing hot dogs into the stands for years now. McVay was hit in the eye that ripped off her glasses. She added that the doctors advised her to put an ice pack every 20 minutes on her facial injury.

McVay underwent a CT scan to guarantee that she didn't have any concussion. She said that she wouldn't be filing any legal action to the Phillies but gave a stern warning to other fans.

"It just came out of nowhere. And hard. Just to be aware because you never know. I understand a baseball but not a hot dog," McVay quipped.

McVay added that the Phillies have already talked to her to apologize. To make up for their mistake, the Phillies will be giving her free tickets to the game when she recovers.

Phillies Beat Cardinals

The Phillies went on to pull off a 4-3 squeaker of the Saint Louis Cardinals to rebound from their 7-6 loss to the latter the other day. Prior to that loss, the Phillies also beat the Cardinals 6-5. With the victory, the Phillies improved to 39-33, nabbing the sixth spot, while the Cardinals dropped to 38-34, taking over the seventh place in the National League.

The Chicago Cubs currently lead the National League with a 42-29 record, followed by the Atlanta Braves (43-30), Arizona Diamondbacks (40-33), and the Washington Nationals (39-33). Completing the top ten are the Los Angeles Dodgers (38-35), San Francisco Giants (37-38), and the Pittsburgh Pirates (36-37).

The month of June hasn't been that kind for the Phillies as they began the month with three consecutive losses against the Giants before stealing a 6-1 victory against the Cubs. Philadelphia absorbed a string of defeats in their next four games. The Phillies has a record of 7-3 in their last 10 matches.

Philadelphia hopes to ride on its momentum when they head to the nation's capital to begin their three-game road stand against Washington this Friday. The Phillies will close out June by playing three games each against the New York Yankees and the Nationals.
