Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown will be the cover of Madden NFL 19, the 26th edition of which will be launched on Aug. 10.
Brown will be the second member of the Steelers to make it to the cover of the elite game since it began featuring stars on its cover 19 years ago. Defensive back Troy Polamalu made it to the cover of Madden NFL 10, but he shared the honor with Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
Dream Come True For Brown
"I am beyond honored to be on the cover of both Madden games," Brown says in a statement released by EA Sports. Aside from Madden NFL 19, Brown will also grace the cover of mobile game Madden NFL Overdrive. A six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, Brown is a 99-rated player in the upcoming Madden NFL 19.
"There's a lot of milestones athletes dream of, and after being inducted into the Madden 99 Club earlier this year, and now appearing on the cover of this year's games, it's clear that business is not just booming, but I'm also among the all-time greatest with these honors," added Brown.
In 2018, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made it to the cover while his teammate, tight end Rob Gronkowski, was featured as cover in 2017. New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, was the cover in 2016, while Richard Sherman, then with the Seattle Seahawks, was the cover in 2015.
Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens will be the cover star of Madden NFL 19's "Hall of Fame" special edition. Owens is scheduled to be inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 4 but said he won't attend the ceremony.
Aside from Brown, the other 99-rated players in Madden NFL 19 are Brady, Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, Gronkowski, Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechley, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller, and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Brown Led NFL In Receptions, Receiving Yards
A sixth-round pick by the Steelers in 2010, Brown emerged as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Brown led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards twice. Last season, Brown led the league in receiving yards with 1,533 on 101 receptions. In 2014, he also led the league in receiving yards with 1,698. Brown also led the league in receptions in 2014 and 2015, with 129 and 136, respectively.
In his eight seasons with the Steelers, Brown tallied 733 catches for 9,910 yards and 59 touchdowns. He was also a factor as a kick and punt returner for the Steelers.
