Lebron James Is Confident the Los Angeles Lakers Will Be the 2021 Champions

LeBron James was standing firm by his words when he said that the Los Angeles Lakers would do a repeat in the 2021 NBA championship.

"We can [repeat]. I mean, it's that simple," James told SportsNet, a Los Angeles-based sports hub. "We absolutely can...First of all, it all starts with health. You have to have some luck. You have to have health. If we can stay healthy."

With the preseason nearing, the Los Angeles Lakers are gearing up and strengthening its roster for the 2021 season.

James sought all the help that he needs, following key acquisitions that included former Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroeder, Sixth Man of the Year awardee Montrezl Harrel, and defensive anchor Marc Gasol.

The four-time NBA champion is always fond of feeding passes to his teammates. James is a playmaker in the making and a 6-foot-8 floor general who trusts his teammates, especially in the offense.

With the recent package of new players, the management looks forward to repeating what they did last season.

The 35-year-old veteran said that the Los Angeles Lakers are all set and done for the next showdown that will be happening.

The newest additions to the team came at the expense of his former teammates leaving, and who already found their home in other teams.

Elite guard Rajon Rondo headed to the Atlanta Hawks while Danny Green and Dwight Howard were acquired by the Philadelphia 76ers. Back-up center JaVale McGee will be staying with Cleveland Cavaliers, together with Quinn Cook.

When it comes to Pau Gasol, James hopes that he could play with him in a Lakers uniform when the time comes. "We'll see, I mean, maybe. We'll see. We'll see."

Pau Gasol was a former Lakers who played alongside Kobe Bryant for two championship runs.

While some fans remain skeptical that James could still keep playing at a high level, the 17-year basketball veteran said that there is nothing to worry about.

"Preseason, I'm not quite worried about," he said. "I am rounding 36. ... Don't worry about me in the preseason."

On the opening night of the 2021 season, it was rumored that the Los Angeles Lakers would face their city rival, Los Angeles Clippers. It turned out that the purple-and-yellow squad will face the Dallas Mavericks for a Christmas showdown.

The expected battle between two California teams disappointed many spectators, but it turned out that it was done as part of the health protocols imposed due to coronavirus.

If that happens, the Lakers and the Clippers will brawl thrice. First, they will square off in December when the preseason peaks. The last one will be their encounter at the opening of the regular season.

James said he spent 96 days and 95 nights in the bubble, and he will not forget that experience.
