The Ultimate Warrior on WWE Hall of Fame? “That’s a Possibility” Says Wrestling Icon

Those who are old enough to have seen the Ultimate Warrior in the ring will remember the character as being one of the most intense competitors that the wrestling industry had seen. The Ultimate Warrior was akin to a meteor, rising to the top of the wrestling world in no time. He defeated the legendary Hulk Hogan in a memorable title versus title match in the main event of Wrestlemania VI. His demise, however, was also quick.

Yet the man who played the character, James Hellwig, maintains that the Ultimate Warrior deserves a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame no matter how brief his career was in the WWE.

"The simple answer is they've got to tell the right story," Hellwig told Digitalspy.com. That's a possibility. Being in the Hall of Fame - Ultimate Warrior being inducted into the Hall of Fame, or me standing there at the Hall of Fame participating in it - is not going to mean anything to my goals in my life and the kind of quality of life I'm going to have, what kind of things I'm going to do, how productive I'm going to be as I move on throughout my life."

It can be remembered that during the late '80s, the Ultimate Warrior took the WWE (then WWF) by storm, winning the Intercontinental Championship before challenging the Hulkster in the main event of Wrestlemania VI in Toronto. He became then the only man to hold the world title and intercontinental championships. However, his decline was as fast as his meteoric rise and a year after winning in Wrestlemania VI, the Ultimate Warrior was out of the company.

Still, Hellwig says his character is a Hall of Famer regardless of what happens with him and the WWE. "The Ultimate Warrior character relative to professional wrestling or WWE, he's definitely a Hall of Famer. He's a Hall of Famer whether he gets into the Hall of Fame or not."
