Marcus Rashford is named as the world's most expensive player in the world.

Marcus Rashford Tops the List

According to the report from the CIES Football Observatory research center, Rashford's transfer value is now £150 million. This made the 23-year-old striker from Manchester United F.C. the most valuable player in the club, ahead of teammate Bruno Fernandes.

Rashford still has two years left on his contract, with a bonus to opt for another year.

A year ago, Kylian Mbappe was the most valuable footballer in the world, the CIES Football Observatory reported. At the age of 21, Mbappe's transfer value hit €265.2 million. Six months later after he became the priciest star in football, his price plunged to €259.2 million but he still remained on top of the ranking.

Now, the Paris-Saint Germain forward is only second behind Marcus Rashford. Mbappe is now valued at € 110 million. The current second placer in the list of the most expensive footballers was Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian footballer is priced at £137.8 million.

In the early 2020, rumors have said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been eyeing Haaland for an additional arsenal in Manchester United. This speculation, however, was erased when Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Dortmund CEO made him stay in the team.

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is the third most valuable footballer on the list at £137. Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese footballer from the Manchester United, ranked fourth at £136.9m. He is the second Manchester United player to be included in the list after Marcus Rashford.

The once most expensive Kylian Mbappe dropped to fifth spot after his value declined to £135.4m. The French striker has 18 months left in his contract with Paris-Saint Germain.

Earlier this week, Marcus Rashford was awarded as The Guardian's Footballer of the Year.

Currently, Manchester United is now tied with Liverpool in the Premier League ranking. Both clubs have 33 points.

This season, Rashford has been averaging seven goals and four assists per game, along with 31 passes. With Manchester United, Rashford has won the Europa League, EFL Cup, FA Cup and FA Community Shield.

Besides football, Rashford is an advocate of the child poverty campaign. He petitioned the 'free school meals' campaign for the children in October 2020.

Manchester United was lucky to have a dedicated player like Marcus Rashford. Since he was a child, he looked up to the English club for a chance to play there one day. He signed on in 2015 and became a United player up to this date.

"As a kid I've never looked beyond Manchester United in my mind, it wouldn't sit right for me to be pulling on another shirt. I just want to do the best I can for the club whilst I'm here, so hopefully I'm here for the long term," Rashford concluded.
