Floyd Mayweather Jr., arguably boxing's greatest pound-for-pound fighter, makes his much-anticipated return to the ring as he faces social media sensation Logan Paul in an eight-round exhibition bout.
The fight might be a gimmick for some boxing aficionados but the eyes of the world will definitely be at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida as Mayweather and Paul lock horns in what is surely another global spectacle.
Floyd Mayweather heads into this boxing showdown carrying an immaculate 50-0 record with his last victory coming against UFC superstar Conor McGregor back in 2017.

That perfect slate will not be put on the line this coming Sunday as an official winner will not be declared in this exhibition fight with no judges present ringside, a spokesperson for Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation told ESPN. That being said, knockouts are not prohibited in this clash and any stoppages would be up to the discretion of the referee.
Both fighters will not wear any headgear and will fight with 10-ounce gloves, after Mayweather and Paul's camps requested a change from 12-ounce gloves. There will be eight three-minute rounds in this exhibition contest.

It isn't a complete wonder why this fight wasn't officially sanctioned by the Florida State Boxing Commission. Mayweather is a five-division world champion who has beaten all-time boxing greats such as Manny Pacquiao, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Miguel Cotto and Oscar De La Hoya in his long and storied career.
Logan Paul, on the other hand, only has one professional bout to date, losing via a split decision to fellow Youtube star KSI in his debut back in 2019. Two judges scored that bout 56-55 and 57-54 in favour of KSI in a cruiserweight fight while the third judge scored the bout 56-55 in favour of Logan Paul.
This isn't Mayweather's first foray into exhibition boxing as he did face Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in such a format back in 2019. Mayweather recorded a first-round knockout after racking up three knockdowns against Nasukawa in that one-sided bout.
The same scenario might play out in the fight between Mayweather and Paul given the stark difference in experience between the two fighters. Even though Paul enters this clash as the bigger fighter, hitting the scale during Saturday's weigh-in at a hefty 189.5 pounds as compared to Mayweather's 155 pounds and with a four-inch reach advantage as well, Mayweather's experience and boxing savvy will definitely shine through against a Youtuber who has yet to record a victory in his short professional career.
One thing's for certain is that Mayweather will laugh his way to the bank once again, deeming this fight against Paul a "legalized bank robbery." In an interview with Showtime Sports at Friday's media day, Mayweather claimed that he has already made $30 million in just the buildup to the fight. Not a bad day in the office for a semi-retired 44-year-old Hall of Fame boxing legend.
