A blockbuster showdown will be heading our way this coming Thursday as the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams square off in a critical Week 5 clash. Both teams are playing catch-up with Arizona in the NFC West standings, so victory is important in this divisional matchup. Here's an in-depth preview of this Rams vs Seahawks showdown.

Los Angeles Rams installed as -1 favorites

The Los Angeles Rams are no longer undefeated. The Arizona Cardinals handed the favored Rams their first loss of the season, pulling off a shocking 37-20 win at the SoFi Stadium. The Rams had no answer for Cards quarterback Kyler Murray, who threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns. The Rams dropped to 3-1, one game behind leaders Arizona in the NFC West with the loss.

They will look to get their season back on track when they take on the Seattle Seahawks this coming Thursday. For the Rams to record the much-needed victory, they will need to execute much better on the defensive end. They have given up 61 points and 911 yards in their last two games against Tampa Bay and Arizona. That's unacceptable for a Rams team that possessed the league's No. 1 defense in points allowed and yards allowed last campaign.

Regardless of that fact, the Rams will still fancy their chances of grabbing the win on Thursday Night Football as they have fared extremely well against the Seahawks of late. The Rams have won six of their last eight games against the Seahawks, including a 30-20 victory in the NFC Wild Card Round last season.

Seattle Seahawks enter Week 5 as +1 underdogs

The Seattle Seahawks finally snapped their two-game losing skid Sunday with an important 28-21 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at the Levi's Stadium. It was a huge bounce-back win for the Seahawks, who absorbed back-to-back defeats against Tennessee and Minnesota in Weeks 2 and 3. With their victory against the Niners, the Seahawks improved their season record to 2-2.

The Seahawks now set their sights on a possible 3-2 start when they take on the Los Angeles Rams this coming Thursday. For Seattle to achieve this feat, it needs Russell Wilson to continue his outstanding play. Wilson overcame a rough start which saw Seattle go three-and-out on its first five drives, throwing two touchdown passes and running for another score to record his 100th win in the regular season as a member of the Seahawks.

Wilson has fared well on Thursdays in his NFL career. Wilson has won nine out of the 10 Thursday Night Football games he has played in, tying Hall of Famer Peyton Manning for the best TNF record among starting quarterbacks of all time.
