A losing skid will end this Sunday as the Washington Football Team and the Denver Broncos square off in a battle of struggling teams. Here's a breakdown of the Washington vs Denver Week 8 game to see who has the edge in this pivotal matchup.

Washington Football Team installed as +3 underdogs

It is time to hit the panic button for the Washington Football Team, who now trail the Dallas Cowboys by 3.5 games in the NFC East division after a 24-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Washington lost five of its first seven games this season, including its last three outings.

The main concern for Washington this season has been its dismal defense. They are dead last in the NFL in several defensive categories this season, including scoring defense (30 points per game allowed), opponents' third-down proficiency (56.9%), and passing yards average (300.6 yards per game allowed).

With the defense struggling, it is critical for Washington that quarterback Taylor Heinicke carry the cudgels on the offensive side of the ball. He completed 25 of 37 passes for 268 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss to the Packers. Heinicke also wreaked havoc on the ground, rushing for a career-high 95 yards.

For Washington to end its losing skid in Week 8, it is important that they take advantage of their opportunities inside the opponents' territory. Washington had five scoreless possessions inside the Packers' 30-yard line, including two consecutive series that agonizingly ended inside the 5.

Denver Broncos enter Week 8 as -3 favorites

Things are going from bad to worse for the Denver Broncos as they crashed to their fourth consecutive defeat with a 17-14 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football. After starting the season with three straight wins, the Broncos now head into Week 8 with an abysmal 3-4 record. They are now two games behind leaders Las Vegas Raiders in the AFC West standings.

They will look to get their season back on track when they face the Washington Football Team in Week 8. The Broncos must start strong in this encounter for them to end their losing skid against Washington.

The Broncos had trailed in the opening quarter in five of their first seven games this season. They also trailed by double digits at half-time during their losses to Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, and Cleveland the past four weeks.

The good news for the Broncos is that reinforcements are coming for the showdown against Washington. Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is expected to make his much-anticipated return this week after recovering from a high right ankle sprain he suffered in the season opener against the New York Giants. Jeudy caught six passes for 72 yards in that Week 1 win.
