NBA fans have long been aware of Draymond Green's admiration for his friend and rival, LeBron James, who is also represented by the same agency as Green, Klutch Sports.

The two have collaborated on various creative projects, and Green often defends James against criticism from former players and writers.

However, a recent report suggests that Green's affection for James may run even deeper than previously known, and it may have caused tension within the Golden State Warriors team during a crucial point in the season.

Warriors' Coach Steve Kerr Denied Draymond Green's Request

As per reports, on February 7, 2023, Draymond Green asked to be excused from a portion of a Warriors' trip so that he could be present in Los Angeles, when James became the all-time leading scorer in NBA history during the Lakers' game against the Thunder.

However, Golden State coach Steve Kerr denied the request, citing the team's game against the Trail Blazers in Portland the following day.

At the time, the Warriors were struggling, sitting in ninth place in the Western Conference with a record of 28-27.

Despite the tension caused by Green's request, there is no doubt that he has a great deal of respect for James. In the past, Green had even stated that he believes James is the best face of the NBA ever, given his ability to compete at such a high level even in his 20th year in the league.

As the Warriors and Lakers prepare to face off in the Western Conference semifinals, it remains to be seen how Green's admiration for James will manifest on the court.

Regardless, it is clear that their friendship and mutual respect is one of the NBA's most enduring and fascinating storylines.
