The Bulldogs, Georgia's football team, have rejected President Joe Biden's invitation to visit the White House on June 12, which has been designated as "College Athlete Day."

The Bulldogs had won their second consecutive national championship, but their busy student-athlete calendar and the time of year make it difficult to attend the event.

There were previous complaints from Georgia supporters about the delay in receiving an invitation, but it finally arrived last week after being requested by a bipartisan group of Georgia's congressional delegation in January.

First Lady Jill Biden's Controversy

The Biden White House recently experienced controversy when First Lady Jill Biden suggested inviting Iowa's women's basketball team, the runner-up in the national championship, alongside the winners, LSU.

This comment was criticized by LSU player Angel Reese, who felt that it implied that LSU would not have been invited if they had lost. However, Reese later confirmed that she would attend the White House event honoring LSU on May 26.

The decision by the Bulldogs not to attend the White House visit is not unprecedented, as some other sports teams have also declined invitations in the past due to scheduling conflicts or political disagreements.

While it is customary for championship-winning teams to visit the White House, it is ultimately up to each team to decide whether or not to attend.
