Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso is having an incredible start to the 2023 season, scoring the most points he's ever had after five rounds in over a decade.

This is mainly due to Aston Martin's resurgence this season, where they are currently second in the Constructors' standings after finishing seventh last season.

Alonso is currently third in the drivers' standings.

Fernando Alonso Believes He Can Win on Three Circuits This Season

Despite Aston Martin's massive improvement this year, they have yet to win a race due to the dominance of Red Bull.

Red Bull's duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have won all races this season so far with the blistering pace of the Red Bull RB19 car.

However, Alonso believes they can notch a win or two with their Aston Martin AMR23's strength on the corners.

"We seem to have a car that is maybe not the fastest on the straights. We need to improve that, but we are very good on the corners. So I would say that [we could win at] the slowest speeds of the championship, let's say, Monaco, Budapest, Singapore," the 41-year-old said.

Monaco and Singapore are among the tightest tracks on the calendar, with three-time champ Nelson Piquet referring to driving in Monaco as similar to "riding a bike around your living room."

Alonso has finished on the podium four times this season, all in third place, while Red Bull has managed to clinch four 1-2 victories.
