Aliyah Boston didn't waste time showing off her skills in the world's premier women's basketball league.

After spending four years of college hoops with South Carolina, the 21-year-old was selected as the first overall pick of the 2023 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever.

Boston has averaged 15.8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists through four games, shooting a highly efficient 66.7%% from the field and 27 minutes per game.

The Fever snapped an 18-game losing streak, tied for the longest in WNBA history, by escaping last Sunday with a narrow win over the Atlanta Dream, 90-87.

The number 1 overall pick contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds in the streak-snapping victory.

She currently has the second-highest field goal percentage, third-most points in the paint, and fifth in true shooting percentage in the league.

Among centers, Boston is the third leading scorer and second in assists. She has leapfrogged many veterans in the numbers game with these impressive numbers, barely a month into the 2023 season.

Among the competition for the 6-foot-5 center in her first few games were reigning Sixth Player of the Year and two-time All-Star Brionna Jones on the Connecticut Sun twice, 2021 WNBA MVP Jonquel Jones of the New York Liberty, and Cheyenne Parker of the Atlanta Dream.

Fevers coach Christie Sides was full of praise for Boston's work ethic.

"She wants to learn. She's asking great questions. She wants to know why things are happening. She's watching a lot of video. She's doing extra work without coaches. She's just a great presence down there that never stops fighting," Sides said.
