New Barcelona Shirt Honors Historic Women's Team

The new Barcelona jersey has a subtle diamond design on the club badge, meant to honor the first Barcelona women's supporters' club from 1970.

Supporter Inma Cabeceran sent a letter to then-Barca president Agusti Montal Costa proposing a women's football team should be created.

This resulted in the first-ever female side to ever play in Camp Nou on Christmas Day that year. The game finished in a draw, but Barcelona won on penalties 4-3.

The squad was named Pena Femenina Barcelonista, but it was initially not recognized by the club until 2002.

This paved the way for forming the world's most dominant women's football team today. FC Barcelona Femini recently won their second Women's Champions League in three years this month and their fourth successive Liga F title.
