The National Football League announced on Tuesday that it is reinforcing its gambling policy following multiple violations of several players, according to ESPN.

Incoming rookies are now required to attend mandatory education sessions about the league's gambling policy.

A group of NFL officials is also making in-person visits to team facilities to emphasize and clarify what activities related to sports gambling are prohibited, which is seeing a massive expansion in usage.

Jeff Miller, the NFL executive vice president of communications, public affairs, and policy, noted that the world has changed over the last few years.

"The availability of our phones and [with] a couple of touches, and all of a sudden, you can place a bet on many different things was not available a few years ago and is available now," the league executive said.

Miller added that sports gambling's presence in people's lives increased dramatically more than just a few short years ago. This has huge implications for the NFL, wherein they believe that the integrity of the game is the highest single principle.

Multiple NFL Players Suspended For Violating Gambling Policy

Five NFL players were suspended last April for betting on games, even outside the NFL.

The Detroit Lions were hit the hardest with the verdict, with four players coming from their squad - Stanley Berryhill III, Jameson Williams, Quintez Cephus, and C.J. Moore. Washington Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney was also included in the group.
