The Los Angeles Clippers provided an update regarding the status of their superstar forward, Kawhi Leonard.

Clippers president of basketball operations, Lawrence Frank, said on Thursday night that Leonard underwent a clean-up procedure on his right knee at the beginning of June.

The team executive added that the 31-year-old superstar feels great, and it is an eight-week recovery from surgery to get back onto the court. He is expected to fully participate in the team's training camp before the 2023-24 season starts.

Leonard played spectacularly during the first two games of their first-round matchup last April against the Phoenix Suns in the 2023 NBA Playoffs. However, he sustained a torn meniscus on his right knee in Game 1.

Leonard was able to play through the injury in Game 2, but he was subsequently sidelined for the rest of the series. The Clippers were eliminated in Game 5, and the team wasn't sure if Leonard's injury required surgery at that point.

Kawhi Leonard's Right Knee Injury History

The Clippers looked poised for a championship during the 2021 NBA Playoffs, with Leonard making the All-NBA First Team that year.

Unfortunately, Leonard picked up a partial ACL tear on his right knee during their second-round series against the Utah Jazz. He was out for the remainder of the postseason, putting a blow on the Clippers' championship hopes.

Leonard missed the whole 2021-22 season due to the injury, and he has not played more than 60 games in the regular season since 2016-17.
