Not a new era, just a needed 'positive' shift.

This is how Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr explained the team's release of Jordan Poole and acquisition of Chris Paul.

The Warriors, who came up short in the Western semis last season, received CP3 via a trade with the Washington Wizards.

They let go of Poole, who was with the team in their last championship.

"We're going to be a lot different," Kerr said in an interview with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.

"The biggest point is that we sensed we needed a shift. Didn't mean we needed an overhaul, but we needed a shift of some sort. I think everybody in the organization sensed that. And it feels like we've made a pretty significant shift without giving up our identity and our sense of who we are as a team."

CP3 is a great addition to the team's playmaking department, and Stephen Curry can now spend more time off the ball.

The Warriors dynasty core expected to remain

It is indeed not a new era for the 2022 champions, as the team ensures that its core remains. Curry and Klay Thompson are both still under contract.

The third member of its Big Three, Draymond Green, decided to become a free agent, but the team is adamant about resigning him.

New general manager Mike Dunleavy says Green should be back.

"What he means in terms of this organization and this team, winning at the highest level, we feel like we have to have him," he said.

Green is also keen on returning, but he hinted on Twitter that he deserves a new $100 million deal.
