Alex Rodriguez Believes Angels Can Win MLB Title in 5 Years, but Must Trade Star Duo First

Former New York Yankees star turned analyst Alex Rodriguez has no faith that the Los Angeles Angels can win now. As a solution, it should break up the team led by two of the best players in the league right now.

The Angels are fourth in the American League West standings and have lost nine of their last ten games before the break.

Rodriguez believes the Angels must let go of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout to ensure a better future.

"I think this needs a serious, serious situation and a bold move," he said on his Fox Sports show.

"I think the Angels win a world championship in five years if they do this, first, you trade Ohtani, then you trade Trout. And you try to get five or six players, load up with first-rounders and the next thing that you have to do is bring in a guy like Theo Epstein, give him ownership and let him run the shop."

A bold suggestion or just what the doctor ordered?

The suggestion appears bold for many as Ohtani is currently dubbed the best player in MLB and has been breaking records here and there.

He is also the top vote-getter in the 2023 MLB All-Star Game.

Trout is also still playing at an All-Star level, although he got injured a few games before the All-Star.

Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno earlier tried to appease fans, assuring them he would not trade Ohtani, who will become a free agent next season.

General manager Perry Minasia had the same sentiment, but their goal first is to reach the playoffs, which they haven't done in eight seasons.
