Wimbledon Women's Singles Semis: Ons Jabeur 'Not Happy' With How Aryna Sabalenka Won Her QF Game

Beating Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Open 2023 would have been a cause for celebration for Ons Jabeur, but the Tunisian star was too focused on her future matches that she did not feel happy right away.

Jabeur already had eyes set on the semis match moments after her victory over Rybakina, who beat her in last year's Wimbledon finals.

The current world no. 6 was left busy watching the quarterfinal match between Madison Keys and Aryna Sabalenka, and she was left feeling unhappy because the Belarusian ended it in just two sets.

"I saw she won very quick which I wasn't happy with," Jabeur said.

Of course, this is just a player hoping to have an advantage against her semifinal opponent.

Sabalenka knew of Jabeur's comments but did not think her early finish was advantageous.

"I think she was just joking. She's very nice girl. She has such a good sense of humor. I don't think it's going to give me any advantage... It's going to be great battle, tough match. Doesn't matter what she said, she's just fun girl."

Repeat for Sabalenka or revenge for Jabeur?

Jabeur knows Rybakina is a tough opponent to beat. After all, Rybakina is currently ranked as world no. 2.

"She's an amazing player. Hits very fast like Elena so its going to be very challenging," she said in front of reporters.

The two last met at the Group Stage of the WTA Finals in Fort Worth. Rybakina came out on top in three sets, 6-3, 6-75-7.
