Houston Rockets lottery pick Cam Whitmore made a bold prediction for his upcoming rookie season in the world's premier basketball league.

In an appearance on NBA Today with ESPN's Malika Andrews, the 19-year-old said his goal was to win the Rookie of the Year award.

He mentioned that he has the confidence to become the best newcomer in the league.

"I have the biggest skillset in the draft right now, and I think I'm the most different type of athlete," the 6-foot-7 player said.

The small forward's prediction is a very hot take, as this year's rookie class is one of the most talented pools in recent years.

Whitmore will be competing against the most anticipated basketball prospect in two decades, the Spurs' Victor Wembanyama, alongside the Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson, Hornets' Brandon Miller, Rockets' Amen Thompson, and Pistons' Ausar Thompson for the league's top rookie honor.

The former Villanova Wildcats player was selected by the Rockets as the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
