Giants: Saquon Barkley Threatens to Pull a Le'Veon Bell After Extension Talks Produced Nothing

Pittsburgh Steelers fans know what it is like to lose a good player over something that could have been ironed out by the parties involved.

New York Giants supporters might undergo the same situation if contract issues between Saquon Barkley and the team go unresolved.

Barkley revealed that he is contemplating doing what Le'Veon Bell did to the Steelers in 2018 after not getting an extension deal from his current team - sit out the whole season.

"My leverage is I could say, 'F*** you' to the Giants, I could say, 'F*** you' to my teammates," he told The Money Matters two days after the extension talks collapsed.

"And be like, 'You want me to show you my worth? You want me to show you how valuable I am to the team? I won't show up. I won't play a down.' And that's a play I could use."

Barkley clarified, though, that walking away from the team is not in his character. However, that option is available to him, something he needs to discuss first with his family and team.

The 26-year-old running back was handed a franchise tag by the Giants and was supposed to get a new deal on July 17, but the agreement was never reached.

What happened to Le'Veon Bell after sitting out a season?

Bell's situation is no secret. The former Steelers sat out the 2019 season, but he never reached the supposed stardom level he was about to reach with his first team.

Just last week, he apologized to Steelers fans and said he should never have left them.

The Steelers' 2019 season was not that great either, as they again failed to reach the playoffs.
