UFC president Dana White believes this generation is seeing the return of the heavyweight division of professional mixed martial arts, referring to the possibility of Jon Jone's fight against Tom Aspinall.

"There's no doubt that the heavyweight division is back and fun and exciting," he said during the promotion of Aspinall's fight against Marcin Tybura.

"You have big guys that have knockout power, guys with ground game. And then you got Jon Jones, who is the greatest of all time, so it's a good time for the heavyweights."

The top UFC official also teased that a fight between Aspinall and Jones in London is possible if the former beats his opponent in UFC Fight Night 224 this weekend.

Pressure is indeed on Aspinall to win. Not only is he fighting in his hometown, but he just came off a long hiatus following his 15-second defeat against Curtis Blaydes in July last year.

Other heavyweight showdowns to watch

Another heavyweight showdown to watch is Ciryl Gane vs. Sergey Spivak which will happen in Paris, France.

The fight, which will take place on September 2 at the Accor Arena, will not just feature another heavyweight fest but will also serve as a testament to UFC's internationalization.

The competition will return to New York City for a fight between UFC Heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former two-time title holder Stipe Miocic.
