An update was given on the fate of Max Verstappen's Hungarian Grand Prix winner's trophy after Lando Norris inadvertently broke it during the podium celebrations after the race.

The McLaren driver, who finished P2, smashed his champagne bottle onto the podium to open it. The impact caused Verstappen's winner's trophy to fall off the podium ramp, breaking it into pieces.

Attila Simon, the CEO of Herendi Porcelanmanufaktura Zrt (Herend Porcelain Manufactory), the historic Hungarian company responsible for the production of the trophy, said that their products have a lifetime warranty and the process of creating a replacement of the trophy's body has begun immediately.

The handmade trophy takes six months to produce and is valued at around $45,000.

The Red Bull driver promised to take it off the top step next time to avoid the same incident from happening again. The two-time world champion also sent McLaren CEO Zak Brown an amusing message regarding his damaged hardware.

"I will send Zak [Brown] the bill because he has a big budget with all the hiring [he is doing]," the race winner said.
