Luis Suarez, who now plays for Brazilian club Gremio, recently said in an appearance with Uruguayan TV show Punto Penal that he and former teammate Lionel Messi are dreaming of ending their careers together.

"With Messi, we dream of retiring together. It was something that we always planned when we were at Barcelona. And from one year to the next I went to Atletico and he went to PSG," the Uruguayan striker said.

Suarez added that they both planned to go to the United States after their time with the Spanish giants was over, and he was hoping to join Messi in Miami now that the Argentine superstar has followed through with the plan.

Suarez and Messi are known to be very close to each other, as well as their wives and families. They frequently go on vacations together.

Messi's wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, sent a heartful goodbye to Suarez's wife, Sofia Balbi, after the Uruguayan striker left Barcelona for Atletico Madrid in 2020.

Luis Suarez talks with Inter Miami collapse

Suarez was already in deep discussions to join his former Barcelona teammates Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba to Inter Miami this summer. However, negotiations collapsed after Gremio did not allow the striker to leave the team.

However, the Brazilian club has agreed to terminate Suarez's contract in December 2023, and Inter Miami are still interested in signing the two-time European Golden Shoe winner in 2024.
