Derek Carr may not be that high on analysts' list of top quarterbacks this season, but his New Orleans Saints teammates have great faith in him as their undisputed leader.
Carr joined the NFC South franchise just last March, but he is already emerging as their deputy on and off the pitch.
Tight end Juwan Johnson thinks Carr was able to impose himself because he tries to be real with everyone.

"A lot of guys gravitate to him because it's just him," he told Nola.com.
"No rah-rah speech, no BS. It's just him."
Coach Dennis Allen recalled one instance when Carr did not shy away from insisting on his plans during a moment with one of the wide receivers.
"I don't think he's afraid to call somebody out if necessary," Allen shared. "We had that happen in OTAs, we had a receiver that didn't know what he was doing and (Carr) got him out and got someone else in there. He's in full control of what we're doing offensively."

The Saints knew what they got in the four-time Pro Bowl winner, and several team personnel took the responsibility to get him acclimated to the team's culture.
"The expectations for him coming here are one thing, but I preached from Day 1: When you're QB1, don't wait around," quarterbacks coach Ronald Curry said of Carr.
"Guys are waiting (for you to lead). ... That's how guys are programmed."
Carr and the Saints will be able to test their new partnership when they meet the defending champs Kansas City Chiefs for a pre-season game on August 14.
