Errol Spence took a beating from Terence Crawford in their title unification bout last July 29.

The consensus was he was not comfortable in that weight division. Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. agrees.

The undefeated boxer believes it is time for Errol Spence to climb to a heavier weight class after losing to Crawford, who he also once beat.

"I want the best for Errol Spence," Mayweather Jr. said in an interview with Fight Hype.

"If I was training him or I was in his corner, I don't think he should be fighting at 147 at all. I don't even think he should be fighting at 154. I think he should be fighting at 160 or 168. That's just my honest opinion."

The July 29 fight was Spence's first loss in 29 outings.

The agreement with Crawford came with a rematch clause, and Spence has been vocal about wanting to meet Bud in the ring again, but with a slight change.

Change of weight class from Spence

Spence is walking away from 147 lbs and wanted the rematch to be at 154, much lower than what Mayweather Jr. wants.

"147 pounds was kinda hard for me too," he said. "I was already talking about moving up and challenging [undisputed light-middleweight world champion] Jermell Charlo, so 154 pounds wouldn't be out of reach."

Crawford has also agreed to fight at 154, which could mean a bigger payday for both.
