Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson revealed that he didn't exactly get to a hot start with Stephen Curry when they first played together.

The 33-year-old said in an appearance on Paul George's Podcast P show that the duo didn't say a word to each other during Thompson's rookie year in the 2011-12 NBA season.

Curry only played 26 games that season due to recurring ankle issues, while Thompson was riding the bench for the first 30 games.

Thompson added that their relationship blossomed when they played for Team USA in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

"We had nothing else to do and where were we, like Canary Islands? We had nothing else to do so we went and played golf. We finally got to know each other on the golf course," the four-time champion said.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are closer than ever

Known as the "Splash Brothers," the duo of Curry and Thompson is considered one of the best backcourts ever, with both regarded as the greatest shooters in NBA history.

They have grown closer to each other, with Thompson remembering Curry's son Canon's 1st birthday right after undergoing ACL surgery when he sustained a tear in the ligament during the 2019 NBA Finals.

Canon seemed to have taken a liking to his father's backcourt partner, adorably greeting him after a Warriors game in December 2022. The five-year-old also gave Thompson the game ball when he returned to action after two major injuries in January 2022.
