The Timberwolves defeated the Thunder 120-95 to advance to the NBA Playoffs as the #8 seed.

The NBA disciplined Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards for recklessly swinging a chair during their last postseason game last April 25 against eventual NBA champions Denver Nuggets at the Ball Arena in Denver.

The 22-year-old was fined $50,000 for the incident, which saw him pick up a chair and toss it back on the floor in frustration after the loss. Edwards had just missed a game-tying three-pointer which could've extended their season.

The chair hit two Denver arena employees, leading them to press charges on the All-Star. The league added that they had to wait for the criminal investigation to end before coming up with their punishment.

"In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, the league's review of this matter was deferred until after the criminal investigation into the player's conduct concluded with charges dismissed last month," the NBA said in their statement.

Edwards is currently with the Team USA squad that will compete in the 2023 FIBA World Cup from August 25 to September 10, primarily in the Philippines.

Anthony Edwards incident underwent criminal investigation

The chair-swinging incident sparked a criminal investigation after the two women that were hit decided to press charges on the 2020 top overall pick.

Edwards was cited for two cases of third-degree assault, and Denver police were summoned after the game. Police confirmed that the two victims were injured, but not seriously.

The player's lawyer described the charges as "baseless," and they were dropped following a criminal investigation.
