The Carolina Panthers will have one of their free-agent signings ready for their season opener against the Atlanta Falcons at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sunday, September 10.

Panthers running back Miles Sanders feels good after sustaining a groin injury that caused him to miss the past few weeks of training camp. He was also sidelined for the Panthers' first two preseason games because of it.

There is a possibility that Sanders can see action during the Panthers' final preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Friday at home in the Bank of America Stadium.

"Miles has that dog inside of him that I love, his preparation, his focus.. he's been working his butt off to get back and practice," Panthers assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley said.

The Panthers offered a four-year, $25.4 million contract to Sanders in free agency during an offseason where many have claimed that the running back position has been devalued.

The 26-year-old is coming off a Pro Bowl selection with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, rushing for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The former Penn State player helped the team reach the Super Bowl LVII last February, narrowly losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35.

The Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 53rd overall pick.
