Jenni Hermoso of Spain finally took significant action on the now-suspended Luis Rubiales for the controversial kiss on the lips she got from him at the FIFA Women's World Cup final in Sydney back on August 20.

The 33-year-old forward has reportedly pressed charges of sexual assault against Luis Rubiales for kissing her without consent, according to sources close to the Spanish football player in a report by ESPN.

The complaint was reportedly filed on Tuesday, September 5, at the office of the state attorney general, CNN reported.

"The statement was made at the office of the state attorney general to protect the privacy of the victim," an official spokesperson from the office stated.

It was the next step needed for the Spanish justice system to move forward with a case against Luis Rubiales. The Spanish football official continues to shrug off calls for him to step down as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

In a previous report, Rubiales batted that he is the victim in the controversial Jenni Hermoso kissing scandal.

It was the latest black eye for the embattled soccer chief. Rubiales is also being probed by Spain's top sport court (TAD) and by the world governing body FIFA.

More than 80 Spanish soccer players are supporting Hermoso, vowing not to return to the national team unless there is a change in the current leaders.

With Rubiales' suspension, Pedro Rocha has been named to take over on an interim basis to oversee all football-related activities, according to Radio Estado.
