The Philadelphia Eagles are ready to lock horns with the New England Patriots when the 2023-24 NFL season kicks off. The Pats are coming off a poor season, but Eagles QB Jalen Hurts remains reserved heading toward the Week 1 clash.

"This is a great team," Hurts said about the Patriots in a report by NESN. "A well-coached team we're about to play against in a very tough environment. For us, we just have to control the things we can."

The Patriots missed the NFL playoffs, finishing with an 8-9 win-loss record. This poor showing was attributed to their lack of offense.

However, the defense of the Patriots is something that holds promise. There is a lot of hype on it heading into the 2023 NFL season, CBS News reported.

The outlet notes that last season, New England allowed just 20.4 points (ranking 12th in the NFL) and 322 yards per game (8th) in 2022, and their 30 takeaways were the second-most in the league.

Hurts is aware of this, noting how the Pats have a good cast of athletes manning the backend.

"Their linebacking crew plays physical. They fly to the ball. I think their D-line, they have really good edge rushers. The guys inside do a really good job as well. We just have to execute," the Pro Bowler pointed out.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles will be out to see for themselves how the New England Patriots' defense will hold up. It will also be the first game for the 25-year-old since signing a $255 million contract extension that placed him among the NFL's highest-paid players, NFL.com reported.
