New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers shut down the possibility of hanging up his boots in the near future.

The Super Bowl XLV MVP made another appearance at the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, September 22, to give an update on his recovery progress.

Rodgers showed himself undergoing rehabilitation during the conference call while sharing details with McAfee.

After reports came out last week about the 39-year-old aiming for a playoff return this season, the four-time NFL MVP backpedaled on his potential return timeline but reiterated that he plans to play football again.

"I don't want to get caught into a timeline. I just want to get healthy, honestly. Mentally and physically, honestly. I'm gonna do everything I can rehab-wise to put myself in position to play football again at some point," the ten-time Pro Bowl selection said.

Rodgers previously considered retirement

Acquired by New York from Green Bay last April, the former Packer took a while to decide whether to continue his playing career in 2023.

Retirement was considered but ultimately rejected, leading the four-time First Team All-Pro selection into his 19th NFL season.

Despite approaching his 40th birthday in December and the challenge of recovering from one of the worst injuries in sports, Rodgers maintains an optimistic outlook regarding his ability to return to peak performance. He is only two seasons removed from an MVP campaign in 2021.
