USC Trojans freshman guard Bronny James did not attend the team's first official practice of the season, but head coach Andy Enfield said that the 18-year-old is doing well.
"Bronny's doing very well. But we just can't comment on anything medically. He's going to class and doing extremely well in school, and we're really excited for him," the 54-year-old tactician said.
Enfield added that James is attending practice sessions when he can, and the highly touted freshman has been caught up with some schoolwork.
"His grades are excellent right now, and he's being the true student-athlete," Enfield mentioned.
James, the eldest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and his wife Savannah, suffered a cardiac arrest in late July and was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was discharged three days later.
In a statement released last month, the James family attributed the incident to a treatable congenital heart defect.

USC transfer forward DJ Rodman, son of former NBA player Dennis Rodman, shared that he and his teammates were shocked when James suffered a cardiac arrest.
"I'm just so relieved that [it] was not anything more severe than that. I mean it was just very, I wouldn't say traumatizing, but it was a huge hit on [us], and I had to run out [of the gym]," the 22-year-old said.
