The New York Yankees disappointed hard this season as it missed the playoffs after reaching the Championship Series last season.
The Yankees have the second-highest payroll in 2023, next only to the New York Mets, but they only managed to record 82 wins out of 162 games.
Pitcher Gerrit Cole is not looking back anymore. Their agony has ended, but he believes it is time for them to regroup. However, he wants players like him to have more input in the rebuilding.

"I think the players need to be represented," Cole said, as the New York Post quoted.
"Between Aaron [Judge] and I, that will happen."
Cole also expressed support for manager Aaron Boone, whose job is about to be decided by the front office.
Judging games through numbers not helping?
Yankees reportedly hired an audit firm to assess the organization, but Judge does not think that alone can save them. He thought there was another way to approach the games besides analytics.
"We get a lot of numbers, but I think we might be looking at the wrong ones and maybe should value some other ones that some people might see as having no value," Judge said.
"But when you're playing 162 games, you've got to grind, and you've got to play through things. I think there are certain things you can't put a number on."
