The 2023-24 NBA season is set to formally start on October 24, welcoming back the big names in basketball.

After huge trades, the NBA draft, and some players showing what they can do if given ample playing time, there is no doubt that a lot of talent will try to take that to the next level this season.

However, a key position critical to NBA teams is the point guard position. There are already a lot of big names buzzing in a list that goes on and on. Here are some of the 5 best point guards entering the 2023-24 season.

5. Damian Lillard - Milwaukee Bucks

Damian Lillard finally got his wish of being traded after the Portland Trail Blazers dealt him to the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA.com reported.

Although he preferred to move to the Miami Heat, pundits believe the seven-time All-Star ended up with a better team, not to mention increased chances of winning an NBA title, per OddsSharks.com.

The trade means Lillard will partner with two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Bucks have become favorites to win it all this season, a development that should benefit both NBA All-Stars.

4. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - Oklahoma City Thunder

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been showing promise, and much of that was on display at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The 25-year-old shone brightly for Team Canada, which resulted in a bronze medal for the country, its first-ever World Cup medal, per SI.com.

Making it sweeter for the 11th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft is that the bronze medal was won at the expense of Team USA. Hence, expect the 2023-24 NBA season to be more challenging for the 25-year-old guard.

3. Devin Booker - Phoenix Suns

Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns will be in for an interesting NBA season. After leading the team practically by his lonesome, there is no doubt that he needs help.

He got some of that when Chris Paul entered the fray. But with the entry of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, there is no doubt that the Suns are also a team to watch this season.

For Booker, the key is to jive with Durant, Beal, and company. He has proven himself individually, but the real test for the three-time All-Star is to show that he can share the ball and facilitate better to make his team live up to its billing as one of the favorites this 2023-24 season.

2. Luka Doncic - Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic is undoubtedly someone who is destined for greatness. He has shown what he can do, although he needs to look out for his health.

Injuries have hindered the Slovenian guard from progressively leading the Mavericks in the past seasons. With Kyrie Irving around, both could form a lethal backcourt that would be hard to stop.

Like Booker, the key for Doncic and the Mavericks is chemistry. Irving is known as a ball-dominant player, so their partnership should be interesting to watch this coming NBA season.

1. Stephen Curry - Golden State Warriors

Without a doubt, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors remains at the top of the top guards in the NBA. His scoring is unquestionable, same with his playmaking.

Age is, however, catching up with the four-time NBA champion. His injuries are well-documented, although he has proven to bounce back successfully.

Curry will have his hands full for the coming season, even with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green around. He will have to find a way to get his teammates involved and avoid carrying the huge load on his broad shoulders this 2023-24 NBA season.
