Texas Rangers remains perfect this post-season after snatching two games on the road against the higher-seeded Houston Astros.

Bruce Bochy's team appears to have no weakness at this point, and by Game 3 of the American League Conference Series, they will look more formidable.

The Rangers manager confirmed that mid-year acquisition Max Scherzer will start on Wednesday, October 18, at the Globe Life Field, his first game back since September 12.

"He's ready. That's why he's starting Game 3," Bochy told reporters.

"A few days ago back (at) home, he threw 69 pitches to hitters and came - he came out of that fine. And during that time, he maintained his stamina stuff. So, he was available yesterday. In fact, he said he wanted to pitch yesterday if needed if it went extra innings or something."

Scherzer will join a team that already boasts top post-season pitchers in Nathan Eovaldi and Jon Gray, who were instrumental in the team's last two season victories.

Eovaldi breaks down pitching game in Game 2

Eovaldi, playing only his third game in the post-season, stood out again in the 5-4 Game 2 victory after striking out nine in the match.

He was just methodical and even pinpointed when things went their way in the close match.

"When I was ahead 1-2 (on Altuve) and I went with a high fastball and followed it up with the splitter. You're close but you're not out of the woods yet because Bregman is equally as talented," Eovaldi said. "I was able to make a good pitch and get us out of the jam, and I felt like that was one of the turning points of the game."

Scherzer, Eovaldi, and the rest of the Texas Rangers can finish the job at home as they host the Astros in the next three games.
