Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green sustained an ankle injury during a workout session in late September.

The 33-year-old reportedly stepped on third-year forward teammate Jonathan Kuminga's foot while playing a pickup game.

The latest update on the four-time NBA champion at the beginning of October indicated that he is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks.

Green received clearance for light on-court workouts during the preseason, primarily shooting drills. However, he was not cleared for full team practices or scrimmages until Sunday, October 22.

"[Green] has been cleared to begin practicing with the team (5-on-5) and his return to game action will be based on his continued progress as he works his way into game-like condition," the statement by the team read.

Given Green's statement that the injury is healing faster than expected, there remains a degree of uncertainty, and the possibility of an earlier return to action is open.

Warriors' Draymond Green injury status

Green has been ruled out and will not play the Warriors' season opener against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, October 24, due to the ankle sprain, according to league insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Provided that the initial four-to-six-week recovery estimate remains unchanged, Green is expected to return to the court in early-to-mid November.
