Golf is a sport usually associated with the affluent, as it typically involves a significant financial barrier to entry due to the costs related to equipment, access to golf courses, and various other expenses.

Professional golfers are among the highest-paid athletes in the world of sports, particularly those who belong to the sport's top tier.

One is Rory McIlroy, who has racked up both sporting achievements and financial rewards since becoming professional in 2007.

The Northern Ireland native has spent 122 weeks as the number one golfer in the world and has clinched four major tournament victories in his career, including the 2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA Championship, 2014 Open Championship, and the 2014 PGA Championship.

With a longstanding and successful professional career that is still going strong today, many are asking: How much is Rory McIlroy's net worth in 2023?

Rory McIlroy's Wealth

McIlroy ranks third in career earnings among PGA, LIV, and LPGA golfers, including unofficial earnings, additional bonuses, and team earnings, according to Spotrac.

The former world number one has earned $140,135,058 throughout his career before factoring in taxes and fees, and excluding any income from endorsements.

The figure consists of $80,095,557 in prize money from official tournaments, $1,895,750 from unofficial tournaments, and $15,500,000 from the Player Index Program, a reward for players for enhancing engagement and promoting the PGA Tour.

His latest deal with Nike was inked in 2017, worth $100 million over ten years, and he has been affiliated with the company since 2013,

Following Nike's decision to discontinue producing equipment such as clubs, balls, and bags in 2016, McIlroy's deal with the Swoosh company now exclusively covers footwear, apparel, headwear, and gloves.

This situation has allowed McIlroy to earn an additional income stream, signing a $100 million contract with golf equipment manufacturer TaylorMade. The length of this deal was not disclosed, but it was renewed in 2022.

McIlroy has invested money in several business endeavors, including health companies Kaia Health and LetsGetChecked, home insurance company Kin Insurance, and golf-related ventures Puttery and Golf Genius Software.

The golfer also recently invested in Formula 1 team Alpine as part of Otro Capital.
