The World Cup Qualifiers have resumed, which means domestic clubs are sitting on the edge of their seats due to the possibility of their key players getting injured.

Several clubs and countries are in tension-filled exchanges over players getting hurt and becoming unserviceable for their games.

FIFA implements a Club Protection Programme (CPP), an insurance policy covering the injury risk of national team players.

According to the CPP, "FIFA provides compensation for the losses encountered by the club (player salary) during the period that the player is unavailable for his respective club."

The damage has been done, though. Players still get injured, although nobody wants that to happen.

Manchester United, Barcelona, Paris St. Germain, and Real Madrid are just some clubs that will face that nightmare after some key players get injured while playing for their countries. They may go into future club games without their starting players.

Top 5 players who got injured while on international duty:

1. Manchester United - Andre Onana

The Red Devils are waiting to see the full extent of Andre Onana's injury. Their main goalkeeper got hurt while playing for his home country, Cameroon, against Mauritius.

He was instrumental in the team's 3-0 victory but was not able to finish the match as he was substituted in the 81st minute after making a save.

The Indomitable Lions' camp has yet to provide key injury details.

2. Real Madrid - Vinicius Jr.

Vinicius is on a roll with Real Madrid in La Liga. Brazil called him up for their World Cup Qualifiers in CONMEBOL.

Unfortunately, he will not be there until the end of the latest round of qualifiers after he got injured in the 1-2 loss to Colombia.

The winger looked dominant from the get-go. He set up Gabriel Martinelli for the opening goal but was forced to leave in the 26th minute due to a hamstring injury.

Game footage revealed that the injury happened off the ball, and Vinicius suddenly stopped jogging and started clutching his hamstring.

3. Barcelona - Gavi

Spain cruised to a 3-1 victory over Georgia, but the night was also filled with sadness after Gavi was subbed off in the 24th minute due to a knee injury.

The 19-year-old was in tears as he stepped out of the pitch. The injury stems from a collision with one Georgia player. He tried to shake off the injury, but eventually, he asked to be subbed out.

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente was dejected by what happened to the young player.

"It is a very hard, very difficult moment, above all for our player, but also for Barcelona, the federation, the national team, his teammates, for me," he said. "We are distraught. The mood in the locker room was like we had lost. But this is part of soccer, this is its ugly side."

4. Manchester City - Erling Haaland

Norway lost their chance to qualify for Euro 2024, but they also lost Erling Halaand to injury after he went down in a friendly against Faroe Islands. This means he will miss Norway's next game against Scotland.

The national team's doctor said the Manchester City star suffered "a painful foot injury."

5. Paris St. Germain - Warren Zaire-Emery

France made quick work of Gibraltar in their European Championship qualifying game on their way to a record 14-0 victory.

Everything should have been easy for the 2022 World Cup finalists, but things took a different turn when Warren Zaire-Emery went down with a knee injury he incurred while shooting from the corner.

Before that, he scored a goal to become France's youngest goal scorer on his international debut.
