New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is acknowledged as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

However, achieving this legendary status was not without its challenges. The 40-year-old faced and overcame numerous injuries on his journey to greatness.

Major injuries Aaron Rodgers suffered in his career:

1. Left foot fracture (2006)

Rodgers began his professional career as a backup to Brett Favre. In a notable turn of events on November 19, 2006, during his second season, Rodgers broke his left foot while standing in for the injured Favre in a game against the New England Patriots, which was an embarrassing 35-0 defeat.

Unfortunately, this injury led to him missing the rest of the 2006 season after undergoing surgery.

2. Left shoulder clavicle fracture (2013)

Rodgers endured his next major injury in the 2013 season: a left shoulder clavicle fracture during a game against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.

On a 3rd and 8 play in the first quarter, with the score tied at 0-0, Rodgers fell victim to a sack by sophomore linebacker Shea McClellin. This setback led to Rodgers missing seven games, but fortunately, surgery was not required.

Rodgers returned triumphantly in the regular-season finale, facing the Bears again at Soldier Field in a game that decided the NFC North championship. Green Bay emerged victorious in the game.

3. Left calf tear (2014)

In the 2014 season, Rodgers injured his left calf during a Week 16 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite being hampered for the remainder of Green Bay's season, he demonstrated resilience by continuing to play and not missing any games.

This included a crucial Week 17 win and a Divisional Round playoff victory. Unfortunately, the Packers experienced an overtime loss to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game.

The impact of Rodgers' calf injury is often cited as a contributing factor to Green Bay's defeat in that matchup.

4. Right shoulder clavicle fracture (2017)

During the 2017 season, Rodgers faced a recurrence of a shoulder clavicle injury, similar to the one in 2013, but this time on the right side.

The injury occurred when Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr hit him. At the time of the incident, the Green Bay Packers held a 4-1 record.

Unfortunately, Rodgers missed the next seven games after undergoing surgery. During his absence, the Packers struggled, resulting in a 3-5 record, including the loss in the Week 6 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

5. Knee injury (2018)

In the 2018 season, Aaron Rodgers played every game despite dealing with a fractured tibial plateau and a sprained MCL.

Remarkably, he set an NFL record by completing 402 pass attempts without throwing a single interception despite the challenges posed by the injury.

However, despite Rodgers' resilience, Green Bay faced struggles that led to the mid-season departure of head coach Mike McCarthy. Ultimately, the team fell short of making the playoffs.

6. Toe fracture (2021)

In 2021, Rodgers faced the challenge of a fractured toe during home workouts while recovering from COVID-19.

Despite this setback and the surgery option, he opted not to miss any games. Remaining faithful to his form, he continued to play and ultimately secured his fourth NFL MVP.

7. Left Achilles tear (2023)

Rodgers suffered perhaps the most devastating injury of his storied career during his first game with his new team, New York Jets.

The Super Bowl XLV MVP ruptured his Achilles on only the fourth offensive play, following a sack by Bills' defensive end Leonard Floyd.

The four-time First Team All-Pro selection displayed an impressive recovery from what is deemed one of the most severe injuries in sports. Rodgers was already throwing footballs just a month after the surgery.
