Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has received considerable attention since taking over the Red Devils in 2022.
The 53-year-old Dutchman's disciplined approach, which led to a fallout with former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo and ultimately resulted in the Portuguese's departure, has been a defining aspect of the team.
Following a 13-year career as a center back from 1989 to 2002 with various clubs in the Netherlands, Ten Hag embarked on his managerial career.
He began this phase by assuming a coaching role at FC Twente's youth academy, which happened to be the last professional team he played for.
Ten Hag accepted his initial full-time managerial position in 2012 with the Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles, where he spent one season.
Subsequently, he guided Bayern Munich II from 2013 to 2015 before returning to the Netherlands to assume the dual role of head coach and sporting director at Utrecht until 2017.
Ten Hag took over Dutch powerhouse Ajax in 2017, leading them to their first semifinal berth at the UEFA Champions League in 22 years during the 2018-19 campaign, eliminating then-reigning European champion Real Madrid.
During his tenure, he achieved significant success, securing Eredivisie titles in the seasons 2018-19, 2020-21, and 2021-22, as well as KNVB Cup victories in 2018-19 and 2020-21, and the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2019.

Erik ten Hag Contract
Ten Hag inked a three-year contract with Manchester United in April 2022 worth £27 million ($33.8 million*), with the agreement set to remain valid until June 2025.
Notably, the club paid a £2.5 million ($3.1 million*) compensation fee to Ajax for Ten Hag and his assistant Mitchell van der Gaag, who also made the move to join the Red Devils.

Under his existing contract, currently in its second year, Ten Hag is slated to earn £9 million ($11.2 million*) per season for managing Manchester United.
Given Manchester United's disappointing performance in the 2023-24 season, some fans are advocating for the removal of the Dutch tactician.
However, such a decision comes at a significant cost. If United chooses to part ways with Ten Hag, the club would be obligated to pay approximately £15 million ($18.8 million*) in compensation, accounting for his £9 million ($11.2 million*) annual salary and the 20 months remaining on his contract.
This compensation exceeds the amount paid to their previous full-time manager, Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, who received £10 million ($12.5 million*) in 2021 but fell short of the substantial £20 million ($25 million*) payout made to Jose Mourinho in 2018.
