Giants: QB Tommy DeVito Reveals True Score With Daniel Jones

Should Daniel Jones be worried about losing the starting QB job to rookie Tommy DeVito?

If the former undrafted Illinois Fighting Illini football program player is to be asked, nothing like that is close to happening.

DeVito has been gaining attention after leading the Giants to three straight wins this NFL season. Since leading the Giants, DeVito has gained traction and has now become the new favorite among the New York Giants' throng of fans.

With that said, there are suggestions that Jones may be getting a bit worried about his spot, per Evan Roberts, the host of WFAN radio via Ryan Chichester.

Addressing that claim, DeVito set the record straight and how he and Jones continue to converse regularly.

"He's probably always the first text on my phone right after the game ends," DeVito said about Jones. "I usually see him in here the next morning sitting, getting treatment. So, we're always talking and he's always the first one."

Jones needs to get healthy first, then worry about QB job

After signing a four-year deal with the Giants last March, Jones saw an abrupt end to his season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee in a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, 30-6, in November, ESPN reported.

He is currently undergoing rehab and said that his healing process is going accordingly, per the New York Post.

"Long term," Jones said, "it's definitely the goal to be back by training camp."

As far as still being the Giants' starting quarterback, the 6th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft confidently said that he feels he still is.

"Yeah, I do," Jones said. "But I'm focused on what I'm doing right now - rehabbing and getting back on the field."

DeVito bound for better things

With DeVito showing off his skills, the chances of him settling for a backup QB role once Jones is ready may not make sense.

DeVito joined the Giants because it is his hometown team, and he can develop his skills further under coach Brian Daboll, per Bleacher Report.

But with his rise, would he reconsider moving soon? He did turn down that big money offer from the Washington Commanders before joining the Giants. But will it be the same narrative once his current deal runs out?
