Every year, an attractive G League Ignite prospect grabs the attention of hoops enthusiasts and fans alike.

In previous years, we saw talents like Portland Trail Blazers point guard Scoot Henderson, a third overall draft pick, showcased his talents to the world from the standpoint of the G League.  This year, G League Ignite small forward Ron Holland, tries to do the same.

In his first year of professional basketball, Holland came in with some fanfare; fans and experts were already touting him as a potential number one overall pick.

Although his play for the Ignite has started off slow, many believe he will be taken in the 2024 NBA Draft.  Holland is expected to be a top-ten pick in the draft just on potential alone, according to NBA Draft analysis.

Who is Ron Holland

Ron Holland, a Texas native, rose to fame during his time at Duncanville High School.  During his time in high school, the 6 foot 8 wing was hailed for his athletic ability, defensive motor, and ability to get to the rim.

His talents would make him a top high school prospect. Holland played in the McDonald's All-American game and received offers from some of the top schools around the world.

He committed to the University of Texas in 2022, before decommitting and taking his talents straight to the NBA G League, signing with the Ignite.

G League Ignite Career

So far for the Ignite, the eighteen-year-old prospect has been able to make a large impact on the game defensively; showing his athletic ability that makes him such a high draft prospect.

Despite his high motor and defensive tenacity, Holland hasn't been able to show elite scoring, which could hurt his chances of going number one in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Although he is averaging 18.1 points per game, he is currently struggling from three, shooting a measly 16.7% from beyond the arc.

Despite all of his scoring inefficiencies, Holland has shown some flashes that indicate he could be a serviceable two-way wing in the NBA.

Holland's 28 point and eight rebound performance against the Portland Trail blazers G League team, Rip City Remix, is definitely an indication that he has the talent to come out early in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The G League Ignite is currently 0-8 on the season, but despite the team's poor play, Ron Holland is getting a good chance to showcase his talent to the basketball world.
