NCAA Tournament Bubble Team: Nebraska Cornhuskers Eye a Selection After a Decade

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have their eyes set on a NCAA Tournament berth after not making it to the big dance since 2014.

Nebraska secured a bye in the Big Ten Tournament, winning 85-70 over Michigan to close out their season, as this was the program's first-ever win in Ann Arbor.

They have had a strong season up to this point, clinching under former Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg. Nebraska are peaking at the right time as well, winning their last two out of three regular-season games.

Keisei Tominaga and Rienk Mast were named to All-Big Ten teams Tuesday, joining in honors with their coach Fred Hoiberg, who is Co-Coach of the Year.

Now as it stands, Nebraska is projected to be in the NCAA Tournament, ending a ten year absence from the big dance. However, a strong showing in the Big Ten Tournament could make them a lock.

Nebraska Resume Heading into the Big Ten Tournament

Heading into the Big Ten Tournament, Nebraska has a 12-8 record in conference play and 22-9 overall throughout the season. The Cornhuskers had a strong season to say the least, but they were a bit lackluster on the road, finishing the season with a 3-9 record.

Nebraska have a Net Ranking of 37 and have some significant wins under their belt.

Their best win came over No.2 ranked Purdue on Jan 9th. Other big-time wins include an 80-72 upset victory over Wisconsin on Feb 1st. Nebraska also picked up a 75-69 win over Northwestern on Jan 20th.

Nebraska has the double-bye in the Big Ten Basketball Tournament and will play against either Indiana or the winner of the Michigan/Penn State game on Friday night. Given the Cornhuskers defeat either team, it will only improve their odds of continuing their play through the end of March.
