Jets' Aaron Rodgers Breaks Silence on Controversial Sandy Hook Shooting Conspiracy Theory

Nick Wright is probably drooling right now after known "alternative fact" advocate and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers gets caught in yet another controversial "hot take."

This time, he was immediately forced to retract his statement and send out a public apology.

Rodgers is in the spotlight again after a CNN report revealed that he treats the Sandy Hook mass shooting as a staged event where mourners and victims were just paid actors.

The Sandy Hook Elementary Shooting happened in December 2012 and took the lives of 28 people, mostly children.

Pamela Brown and Jake Tapper of CNN claimed that Rodgers believed the event was a government inside job and that the first responders were crisis actors.

He allegedly made the claim when he learned that he was talking to Brown, a journalist.

Rodgers clarifies his stance

Rodgers is making headlines after being named one of the top prospects selected by Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to run as his vice president.

He immediately took to social media to refute the alleged conspiracy claims he made.

"As I'm on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy," he wrote on X.

"I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to prevent unnecessary loss of life. My thoughts and prayers continue to remain with the families affected along with the entire Sandy Hook community. ️"
